Phonatics, is a collaboration of Mike Warner and Anders Magnusson.

Mike broke into the Adelaide DJ scene in 2001 at the age of 19. Whilst he was initially an RNB DJ, after being accepted as an ARIA Club Chart contributing DJ in 2005 he was saturated with Electronic music promo’s and as a result Mike realised his new passion. In 2007 he & Anders met at a gig and within a few months they had started smashing their heads together and messing with sounds. Phonatics had begun to take shape.

Anders has always surrounded himself in music. After playing instruments all his life he began audio engineering and DJing in house clubs in 2005. He quickly developed a passion for producing electronic music and met Mike at just the right time to turn that passion into Phonatics. Anders’ musical style is defined by an ear for detail and respect of subtlety.

Since their E.P. Launch in March 2008 the Phonatics have been spending countless hours in the studio developing their unique sound. In September they released ‘Take Control’ which features the vocals of the very talented Costa Zacharia. The track was signed to Melbourne label Generation and ‘Take Control’ received strong support from Australian DJs and even managed to break in to the American market, hitting the top 20 in the American masspool.com charts. In January 2009 Adelaide radio station Fresh FM hosted a countdown of the top 92 songs of 2008 with Take Control coming in at number 45!

Phonatics have also found success remixing for various artists and labels. Remixes include; ‘Disco Infected’ for Melbourne group Dirty Laundry, the song hit #10 in the ARIA Club Chart and remained in the chart for 17 weeks. They also remixed Electro F's ‘Superstar Break’ for One Love. Late in 2008, Phonatics remixed Steve Hart and K2’s ‘Backroom DJs’ which was released through Sydney label BamBam Muzik. The track remained in the ARIA Club Chart for over 14 weeks. Their recent remix of David May’s “Superstar” for Central Station Records was successful enough in Australia for the US label “Kontor Records” to re-edit the original video clip and release the remix as part of their official package in the USA.

In February 2009 Phonatics released the follow up to ‘Take Control’ with ‘Relief’. Costa Zachariah once again lends his infectious vocals to the track, this time coupled with a more progressive sound and a rocking bass line.

With the release of their latest tracks ‘Nostalgia’ and ‘Shameless’, Phonatics have proved that their distinctive sound is developing into something that everyone wants a piece of. These tracks both had amazing first weekends with strong sales on Beatport.com and an outpouring of positive feedback from DJs Australia wide. The reaction to ‘Nostalgia’ and ‘Shameless’ has demonstrated that Phonatics are serious producers who are making a name for themselves with their continually maturing sound.

Not satisfied with their time already spent in the studio, they now host there own radio show. ‘Local Produce’ is aired on over 5 radio stations across Australia. Featuring content only from Australian electronic music producers, their mission is to uncover new talent and support local scene.
